    • green plantains (2)
    • vegetable oil (2 cups)
    • salt (taste)

    Preparation mode

    Peel the plantains and slide them into very thin wheels. Fry the sliced plantains in hot oil. Remove them as soon as they golden brown to prevent charring. Sprinkle with salt and serve.

    To make the labor easier, in any Latin supermarket you may find a specialized and inexpensive gadget to slice vegetables. Since this tool do not have a proper name, just ask to the salesman for it.

    Once made, you can preserve the mariquitas for about a week storing them in a sandwich bag or Ziploc. To heat pre-made Cuban Plantain Mariquitas, turn on the oven and when it gets hot turn it off again, then put the mariquitas inside and wait about 15 minutes.
